Absolutely superb analysis of the situation Stefan. Most of the media coverage seems to be a complete lack of understanding or wilful disregard for the facts to suit their narrative.
One point I would suggest needs more context is that City's revenues were tiny.
This is true compared to the global elite eg mufc, lfc, RM, barca, Bayern etc who had super rich owners for 50 or more years.
But City were in the Deloitte Top 20 in 2004/05. That put them #6 in England neck and neck with Spurs and Newcastle.
City did this on the back of being in the third tier a few years before. Nufc did it after a run challenging for the league and European silverware. Spurs always have a London premium of 15-20%.
City have long been the sleeping giant of English football.
Thaksin and Mansour spotted this even when English pundits couldn't see what was in front of them.
Clear and concise analysis. The burden of proof remains with Premier League. Reputational damage to MCFC is significant. If not proven there has to be consequences for PL!
The discussion on the fair market value is a joke. If you are an ambitious regional player like Etihad etc but want to become a global player then the Premier League will put you in front of 2 billion eyeballs every week thirty eight weeks of the year.
No other platform can deliver that level of brand recognition.
It is not true that these brands overpaid, it is that other clubs do not understand the global power of the Prem and undercharge for sponsorship and advertising.
Mansour spotted this and got it right when others get it badly wrong.
'The show itself fell flat, not helped by David Dein, an experienced football operator at Arsenal and beyond, declaring that he didn’t think the story was “much of a smoking gun” before praising the club for doing a “sensational job not just for themselves but for the Premier League.”'
At times like these, I like to reach for my box of clichéd football metaphors. I believe you'd call that one: "something of an own goal".
A measured and lucid analysis. Thank you
Excellent eye opener. Not for those with their eyes shut though.
For City fans and people interested in the truth though, it's a beacon of light.
Thx.

Great article Stefan. I bet far more cogent than the 'evidence' submitted by the PL!
Excellent Stefan
Thank you very much for typing that up, greatly appreciated, doff of the hat in your direction Stefan

Fantastic article Stefan, covered it all.
Any chance someone can link it on RAWK and the CAFE for the gormless red masses with their pitchforks and torches?

Charges made because of jealousy and fear. Appreciate your efforts in explaining the background to us laymen without being too technical
Terrific Stefan, thank you.
Love the truth, forget the rest. Any article that includes “vehemently” would get my vote regardless, though “farcical” would also apply in this case
stefan is a smart cookie ctid tx
Excellent article!
